Lacey's Date: Erik

Summary: I don't contact men who are shorter than me on Match. I have no problem dating men a little shorter than me, but when you're 5'11'' and wear 3" heels, 5'9" men tend to get a little intimidated. I am very upfront about my height in my profile so if they contact me, at least I know they're aware.

Erik was one of the brave ones. 5'9", but cute, nice and well-spoken. We met at PCG for Happy Hour. Date started out on the wrong foot because we got there early and the elevators wouldn't take us to the restuarant so we were standing in a sea of dozens of people waiting to get upstairs. Doesn't make for the best getting-to-know-you conversation.

Once we got to the restuarant and fought all the vultures for a table, we ordered and had generally pleasant conversation. He talked a LOT about his dog, his job, his car and the gym. All of these are fine in moderation but COME ON. Have some interests! We both had two drinks, some appetizers and then conversation slowly started to die. An hour and fifteen minutes later, he begrudgingly paid the bill and we left.

Pros: Generally nice and cute; good, solid job; dog lover; traveler.

Cons: Mediocre teeth; tight mock turtleneck sweater; very self-involved; not close with family (talked shit about his brother for about 20 mins); gambler; generally boring.

Rating: 4.5

Lacey's Date: James

Summary: Overall this date went very well. Met at a bar in NW and had great conversation. I kept it to two drinks, which is hard for me, so I didn't start to do the tipsy ranbling I usually do. We shut the bar down at midnight and ended up singing rock ballads with two drunk couples a few tables down from us.

Pros: Tall; all his hair; well-mannered; intelligent; former Olympian; firefighter; philanthropic; in shape; likes dogs; paid the bill.

Cons: Oddly grey teeth; wandering eyes; drinks girly drinks; hates his parents; has no interest in "travel outside the US other than Mexico;" has yet to call me for a second date.

Rating: 7.5

Dealbreakers:

Introduction: Lacey Lexington

Summary: 29 years old, tall, blue eyed and blonde. After hopping along the West Coast for a few years, Lacey has found herself back at home. Literally. After losing her marketing job to the hideous economy over a year ago, Lacey is now dangerously close to 30 and living at home with her parents. And still unemployed. Hasn't had a real boyfriend since being left by her fiancee almost five years ago. Wishes she had bigger boobs, a job and an awesome singing voice.

Pros: Generally attractive; smart and well-educated; active and adventurous; loyal and giving; well-traveled; well-rounded; wonderful family; amazing dog.

Cons: Unemployed; lives with parents; bossy and demanding; hangs on to ridiculous expectations; pretty consistently prissy and judgemental; potentially permanentely damaged by previous relationship.

Looking for: Someone funny, attractive, smart and driven who makes me run to the phone every time it rings, hoping it's them. Someone with old-world values who opens doors for me and fights over the bill long after we've been together. Someone who has a family as open and welcoming as mine. Someone who likes to go out and try new things, but also appreciates sitting at home on a Sunday watching movies and eating pizza. Someone secure, honest, loyal and exciting. In short, someone who doesn't just meet my expectations, but exceeds them.

Dealbreakers: Short; bald; obese; bad teeth; tapered pants; picky eaters; zero personality; stingy/selfish; overly gelled hair; phone/BlackBerry use during dates; homebodies; rude friends. Something is added to this list everytime I go on a date.
